Sydney, July 4. i In the Legislative Assembly, Mr. j Wade asked if it was true that the I Victorian Government had lodged a claim for Riverina; also if the information leading to the claim had been found by the officer while allow.ed to search New South Wales records on another matter. Mr. Holman answered that ire believed it was so. Mr. Wade asked if the ust) of ihc information under the circumstances was not a breach of confidence. Mr. Holman promised to lay thepapers on the table of the House. • (Received 5, 8.15 a.m.) j Sydney, July 5. Victoria’s claim to Riverina is -a revival of an old matter. The f®e§ing in political circles here is that there is small chance of succeeding.. The letter making the claim suggests that the true construction oF the Imperial statute fixing fhtboundary of the two States shawidJ be definitely settled, and invites the attention of the New South Wales Government to the manner in which it can best be done.
VICTORIA’S OBJECT
Melbourne, July f». The Victorian Government was inspired in making the claim to Riverina by the victory which it obtained over South Australia .ia the recent boundary dispute relating to a stretch of territory on eastern boundary. The matter is not taken very seriously here. Im some quarters it is looked upon as a revival of the old story with th* view to obscure electoral issues at the forthcoming elections.
