In connection with the destruction of Dalmore Distillery in Ross- ! shire,, on the cry of “ Fire !” being ; raised a number of half-naked men ! rushed to liberate the famous poll;ed herd of cattle. The women ; huddled in groups in Market ! Square to evade the rush of the | maddened animals. .■ A hundred casks of twenty 7 years i old whisky 7 burst and fed the i flames, flowing into Cromarty Firth. Sand was thrown on the burning stream, but it was futile. The burning spirit lit the Firth like a searchlight, and was visible at Dingwoll, nine miles away.
