THE HORSE'S PLEA.
A placard headed with the picture of four horses and the words Please be kind to us —We work hard for you is being circulated in America by the Ohio Humane Society. It is hoped that the placard will go some way towards stopping' the almost unbelievable amount of ill-treatment that is meted out to man’s best friend —the horse. Who has not felt a thrill of indignation go through him or her upon seeing some patient horse ill-treated, beaten and perhaps even kicked because it is not able to understand what its master requires of it ? No one, T am sure. The pl;;card reads as follows: — PLEASE give us water often. PLEASE give us a moment's rest on the way up the hill. PLEASE do not overload us. We aro doing our best. I‘LEASE don’t use the- whip. It is seldom necessary. PLEASE remember that wo will respond to a word as quickly as to a blow. PLEASE look out for our health and don’t work us when wo aro sick. PLEASE see that we are properly shod. PLEASE bo s-n-o that wo have enough to eat and that wo are fed regularly. PLEASE keep us in such good condition that you’ll be proud to drive its.
