BARQUE’S ROUGH PASSAGE. (press association. —copyright]. Sydney, June 30. The barque Manurewa, which arrived to-day, left Nydia Bay 40 days since. She encountered a series of fierce gales, and several times hove to. For a week she drifted under bare poles. Her crew had a trying time. STEAMERS COLLIDE. Ottawa, June 30. The steamer Aranmore collided with and sank the steamer General Wolfe near Quebec in a dense fog. Both vessels launched lifeboats, and the passengers and crew of the latter were rescued. The Aranmore was not seriously damaged. DENSE FOG AT SYDNEY. SHIPPIN G IN DIF FICULTIES.
Sydney, June 30. During a record fog the harbour ferry steamers Kangaroo and Kunnamulla collided. The ferry steamer Bingarra got foul of the collier Pareora. The ferry steamer Yady Rawson caine into collision with another vessel. In each case the vessels were running slow, and the damage was not serious, but considerable excitement was caused amongst the passengers. The steam lighter Jubilee coming down the Parramatta river was piled on Brothers Rocks, displacing the marble monument of the sculler Searle from the foundation. A number of other vessels had narrow escapes from colliding or grounding in the fog. LAUNCH OF A WHITE STAR LINER. (Received 1, tu.2O a.m.) London, June 30.
