HILL-CLIMBING COMPETITION.
The Hawke’s Bay Motor Cycle Club held its opening competition yesterday. The event took the form of a secret hill climb, the choice of hill being left to the secretary, Mr. C. P. Lindegreen. The scene of the contest was the Petane-Wharerangi hill. In view of the fact that a strong north-west gale was blowing the results are considered very satisfactory, and were computed on the following formula : —Cubical capacity of engine, multiplied by time in seconds and divided by the total weight of machine and rider. The club anticipate holding a petrol consumption test in Cornwall Park in the course of a few weeks, particulars of which will be duly advertised in these columns. The results of yesterday’s competition are as follows:— OPEN CLASS.
