Mr. G. B. Mackay, of the Grand Hotel, Hastings, is recovering slowly from a recent attack of heart trouble. Mr. Robert O’Kane continues to make fair-progress at Nurse Nairn’s Private Hospital. Mr. Saul Solomon, K.C., will be ill Napier next week in connection with the sittings of the Supreme Court. Mrs. J. H. Williams and daughter, of “Muritai,” Havelock North, leave on a trip to England next month. His Worship the Mayor (Mr. •fames Garnett), auo Mrs. Garnett and Cr. and. Mrs. B. C. McCormick left Hastings by motor for Wellington this morning. We understand a strong effort is to be made to persuade Mr. A. L. D. Fraser to stand for Hawke’s Bay seat, and he will be approached with that object when he has quite recovered from his indisposition. The J; A. Millar (Minister for Railways) is unable to leave his home at present owing to trouble with a knee caused by a slight injury he sustained when travelling a few weeks ago. His southern engagements had to be cancelled. At Frihisug on June sth Miss Ruby O’Nefll, daughter of Mrs. E. O’Neill, of Palmerston North, was married to Mr. J. S. Peters, son of Mr. E. A. Peters, of Napier. The Rev. Father O’Dwyer officiated. The bride and bridegroom are both recent arrivals in Feilding. Mrs. Keogh, the beloved mother of the Rev. Father Keogh, of Hastings, i* one of the lew who have lived under five British sovereigns. She was born in 1829, a year before the death of King George IV. She was under two years of age at the coronation of William IV.; about eight years of age a tthe coronation of Queen Victoria; about 72 years when King Edward ascended the and now, at the age of 82 years, she is still hale and hearty to witness the accession of King George V. Mrs. Keogh resides with her son. and never a Sunday passes that does not see her in her own pew in the church.
