FIRE ON THE VICTORIA. NO DAMAGE DONE. Wellington, June 23. A fire occurred in the steamer Victoria’s No. 3 hold during her passage from Lyttelton to Wellington. The hatches were battened down and the outbreak subsequently extinguished by the Harbour Board’s chemical engine. About 20 tons of chaff and potatoes were damaged by heat and smoke. The steamer suffered no structural injury. The damaged produce was shipped in the South for Auckland.
