GLASSWORKERS STRIKE. (PRESS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT], Melbourne, June 19. The whole of the glass bevellers are striking. They are dissatisfied with the Wages Board’s award of £2/8/- a week, demanding £3. Trade is at a standstill. GOVERNMENT PAY. (Received 20, 10.5 a.m.) | Melbourne, June 20. A Federal order has been issued that where any work is done by the States for the Federal Government, a minimum wage of nine shillings a day must be paid.
RAILWAY EMPLOYEES WAGES Melbourne, June 20. The re-classification of State railway employees, which has been issued, involves additional expenditure of £115,000 per annum. SHEARERS’ DISPUTE. (Received 20, 10.10 a.m.). Melbourne, June 20. The hearing of the shearers’ application for an award in the shearing industry is dragging along. Mr. Justice Higgins remarked that it looked like stretching over till the crack of doom.
