A FIVE MILE LONG PROCESSION.
(press association.—copyright].
London, June 18. • Mrs. Drummond on horseback led a five miles long procession of the Women’s Social and Political Union.
They marched seven abreast and 40,000 took part, representing all countries, 70 bands assisting. One section of the procession symbolised women’s part in history. Then came 700 imprisoned Suffragettes dressed in white. Another section of the pageant represented the greatness and unity of the Empire.
■ Besides Mesdames Fisher and McGowen, Ladies Brassey and Cockburn walked in the procession.
