Japan and her probable directions of expansion formed the subject of a lecture delivered by Dr. Arthur, M.L. A., before the People’s Reform League at Sydney on Friday last. Dr. Arthur declared that the heritage of our children was. being thrown away to suit the ends of a selfish section of the community represented by trades unionism. Australia’s supreme need at the present time was population, and when it was realised that Japan’s surplus population was increasing at the rate of three-quarters of a million a year, it behoved those who guided the destinies of the Commonwealth to move quickly. It was nonsense to say that the Chinese and Japanese did not want to spread to Australia. She hatf a tickling in her throat, A tightness in her chest, A hacking cough, a sneezing fit; At night she got no rest.
