METHODIST DEBATING CLUB, HASTINGS.
Notwithstanding the holiday and the inclement weather, there was a I good attendance at the meeting of* the Methodist Debating Club •n i Monday evening, when Dr. McKib-1 bin delivered a most interesting; lecture. Taking for his subject the! timely topics of Bubonic Plague I and Scarlet Fever, the lecturer j held his audience deeply interested; for over an hour while he traced! the history and characteristics ofthe plague, and imparted a mass! of useful information in reference i to the nature and treatment of the fever. Incidentally he paid a tri-1 bute to the much-criticised munici- ‘ pal authorities for the efforts they l are making in the direction of im-j proved sanitation in the borough- i The lecture was packed with infor-| mation imparted in popular lan-i guage, and the enthusiastic vote of< thanks accorded to the speaker tes-1 tified to its thorough appreciation; by the audience.
