AFTER THE FIRE.
The large number of people who! visited the Gaiety Theatre ruins witnessed a desolate scene this morning. In some cases a few charred uprights were standing, ’ and scattered among the ashes were the remains of valuable motor, cars and machinery. A few twisted rods and strangely contorted wheels were all that could be seen. The work of destruction had been complete. The debris is being searched for anything that may, have escaped the terrible heat. The : safe of Mesrs. Hawkins and Rome was discovered yesterday afternoon, and on opening it everything was found intact. The dynamo in the back premises of the theatre is very slightly damaged, thanks to the efforts of the brigade. The footpath and part of the road is covered with charred beams, sheet-iron, etc.
