NAPIER CORONATION MEMORIAL.
We are pleased to see that the public meeting of Napier citizens held • last night to consider the form of the Coronation memorial adopted the proposal made by us on Monday evening to erect a public hall at the Port. This building should - be of great convenience to the residents in that part of the city, and we feel sure the meeting acted wisely in deciding in favour of a hall rather than something of a more purely ornamental nature. It also provides gratifying proof that petty divisions of the city are no longer to be a bar to sound progress. It will, of course, be readily understood that the erection of a suitable hall will cost considerably more than £5OO, and it behoves those who are prepared to take an interest in the movement to hustle up the work of collecting funds. If any citizens care to augment the funds by donations we shall be pleased to acknowledge receipt of such amounts in our columns.
