COMMERCIAL.

WAIPUKURAU SALE. The fortnightly sale of live stock was held, yesterday at Waipukurau saleyards, when there was a very large yarding of cattie and sheep, every pen in the yard being taken up. There was a large attendance of buyers, both local and from a distance. Fat cattle consisted of several pens of well-finished bullocks and cows, which met with, fairly good competition. The balance of the pens was of secondrate quality. Store cattle consisted of a few pens of 3 and 4-yr-old bullocks of good quality, but did not get the attention they deserved. Two and a-half year steers and weaners filled the balance of the pens, and sold at fairly good prices, though not up to last sale’s quotations. Fat sheep consisted mostly of good ewes and a few pens of wethers, which met with only a fair enquiry, several pens being passed in. Store sheep consisted of wethers, hoggets, ewes in lamb, and empty ewes, and met rather a dragging sale all through. However, by the end of the day a good clearance was effected.
