FROZEN MEAT.
DISTRIBUTION AT HOME. I ETTER FROM MANCHESTER. The Poverty Bay “Herald” says that Mr. Lysnar has received the !• o. wmg communication from Manchester The Manchester Ship Canal Coy, Chief Traffic Superintendent’s office, 41, Spring Gardens, Manchester, March 28th, 1911. —W. Douglas Lysnar, Esq., Barrister and Solicitor, Gisborne.—Deal’ Sir, —-I was very pleased to receive your letter o f 7th February, and to hear that you had such a pleasant voyage Lack to your own home. You have certainly not allowed the grass to grow under your feet, judging from the amount of work shown in the two pamphlets you have sent home b. me. You have certainly thoroughly investigated the matter on e ery point you touched, and you d< serve the credit of having caused the p<u>nlc in London to waken up, T.iL.l ti <it has been some constern '.t!"n there as to your searching critui'-im- of their methods. I see th it jon are still continuing your •n > ,vour ' improve the conditions as regards the producers in New Zealand, and I have no doubt that the thorough way in which you have carried this out will end in more satisfactory conditions for producers as a whole. I hope that when you have time to give a closer consideration to Manchester as a distributing point that I shall hear from you, and I shall be very glad to receive suggestions from you as to how far this can be carried out, and to co-operate with you in every way possible. Of course, it is understood that London is the present market for New Zealand, but I think the time has now come when an effort should be made by the producers to create a strong market in the North, which would be a good stand-by along with the London market, and the sooner the producers realise this. I think it will be the better for them. As I have pointed out to you several times before, of all the ports that you have visited, we can show the greatest saving in distributing the meat amongst the greatest number of consumers from Manchester than, any other port.—Kind regards, yours faithfully,—Jas. S. McConechy.
