London, Maj r 29. “ The Times ” protests against the rumoured substantial reduction in the Indian Arrnj' owing to financial difficulties consequent upon the extinction of the opium revenue and the necessity for increased expenditure on education. GERMAN NAVY. FURTHER INCREASE URGED. Berlin, May 29. The membership of the German Navy League is now 1,034,987. The annual meeting unanimously adopted a resolution advocating the building of a third armoured cruiser annually until 1917. The president, Grand Admiral von Koester, stated that Great Britain had 40 armoured cruisers, of which 29 had a speed of 23 knots or upw’ard. The slowest, wdth a speed of 21 knots, would take the fifth place in the German Navy.
