MAHORA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The usual monthly meeting of the Mahora School Committee was held last night. Mr. A. M. Robertson being in the chair. The headmaster’s report showed the average attendance for the month at 227, a slight decrease, owing to scarlet fever in the district. It was decided to accept Mr. Ribband’s offer to hold a concert and dance in the school at an early date in aid of the school. The front portion of the school has been laid down as a lawn and a lawn mower is to be procured as soon as funds permit. On the motion of Mr. Wyatt, the chairman was requested to communicate with the Government as to whether the Coronation memorial subsidy was available for public schools, with a view to getting Coronation baths at the school. Accounts amounting to £3/7/3 were passed for payment. A leak in ventilator and winaow are to be seen to by the chairman. Under the supervision of Mr. Perry the whole school has been thoroughly disinfected and the floors scrubbed by the caretaker. Every care is being taken to prevent unrecovered children, or children from infected and unfumigated homes, coming to school, so parents need have no hesitation in sending their children. Messrs. Stockham and Sinclair were appointed a visiting committee for the month.
