1 The Government Meteorologist's forecast for 2-1 hours from 9 a.m. this day is as follows: —Strong to gale southerly winds : probably cool and changeable, rain probable, and a very cold night ; glass rise slowly. RAINFALL. Air. L. A.zzopardi reports that the rainfall between 9 o’clock yesterday morning and 5 o’clock last night was 4.78 inches, and between 5 o’clock and 9 o’clock this morning 1.05 inches, making a total of 5.83 inches —one of the heaviest ! rainfalls that we have experienced for many years. Hastings.—For the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. this morning, 3.31 inches was recorded, 1.85 inches having fallen since 2 o’clock yesterday. The total rainfall for the 48 hours’ rain up to 9 o’clock to-day is 5.10 inches.
