RIVERS BOARD ELECTION
ELECTION OF MEMBERS. The election of members to the Hawke’s Bay Rivers Board took place yesterday. In spite of the steady rainfall, the voting throughout the day was very consistent. The interest in this election was very widespread, as is shown by the fact that out of a total roll number of 843, 690 votes were recorded for the Clive, Papakura, and Meanee Wards. It must be remembered, however, that many ratepayers were privileged to exercise several votes. The following are the election results: — CLIVE WARD. H. lan Simson 144 H. Neagle 107 Majority for Mr. Simson .... 37 Total roll number 294, votes recorded 251. MEANEE WARD. G. A. Macdonald 203 P. Parsons 91 Majority for Mr. Macdonald 112 Total roll number 434, votes recorded 301. PAPAKURA WARD. G. P. Donnelly 77 J. E. Lane 58 Majority of Mr. nonnelly .. 19 Total roil number 115, votes re-; corded 138. i OMAR A ENUI WARD. ; Hon. J. D. Ormond (unopposed). KARAMU WARD. George Merritt (unopposed). TARADALE WARD.
