CORONATION MEMORIAL.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I see by to-night’s “ Tribune " that Cr. Hart is to move at to-morrow night’s meeting of the council “That the Hastings Borough Council take advantage of the Government offer of a subsidy of £1 for £1 to local bodies erecting Coronation memorials, and that the question of the form such memorial is to take be referred to the Public Works Committee.” I must say that I am pleased to see this councillor moving in this direction. Several suggestions have already been made as to what form the memorial should take. I have one which I consider is worthy of consideration. My suggestion is that the funds raised should be utilised in building a modern and up-to-date grandstand on Cornwall Park. The buildings there at present are not fit to be used as dressingrooms, as there are absolutely no conveniences. Two hundred pounds could, in my mind, be easily raised for this object, and with the Government subsidy of 20/- in the pound a very handsome building could be erected. I am sure that the various, hockey, cricket, and athletic clubs would take an active hand in collecting funds for this object.—l am. etc., SPORT.
