The streets are patrolled and barricades erected at danger ' points. llie tram sheds are converted into a camp, and the military are ready to reinforce the police. Public opinion is against the strikers owing to the inconvenience i caused. j Glynn, who was arrested, has i been admitted to bail. ; He headed the strikers in at- ! tempting to rush the power station, | stoppage of which ■would have ; plunged the streets, shops and ’ houses into darkness, in addition to stopping the trams. Mounted police are dispersed through the town. ! The prisons being full, others ' w’ho are arrested are taken to the ! , fort. ' Many police were on duty for 36 hours.
