LIFE IS WHAT 55’E MAKE IT. Wo may choose the best that’s in it as we’re journeying along, 55 T e may smile upon the sorrows that we meet ; 55’e may be a listless plodder or may head tho eager throng. We may pluck the blooms about us or may choose the thorns instead, 55’e may hoed or may neglect the leader’s call; 55’e may choose the narrow pathway or the* broader road ahead— Life is simply what we make it, after all. 55’e may help a weakened brother who is struggling with his load, 55’e may clioer him on his long and wearied way : We may spurn him and neglect him as we pass him on the road, Or relieve his deep distresses every day. 55’e may see our name emblazoned on the honour roll of fame, And courageously may rise from every fall; 55’e’rc.' a winner or a loser as we daily nlay the game — Life is simply what we make it. after all — “Los Angeles Express.” SOME REASONS FOR THE NAME “PICCADILLY.” The origin of tho word “Piccadilly” will new'r bo settled, says the “Lady” Tho street was named after Piccadilly Hall, a plac-e of amu-oment at its town ; end. The “pickardill” was a ruff with > sharp points. There is a fanciful story I that the hall was built by a tradesman ! j who had made his fortune in “pick- ! I ci relit Is.” | Another derivation offered is that from “piecadilla ” a cake or turnover which was sold in the fields in this Jesrion. 55’batever the derivation, the name dates from tho sixteenth eenturv nt- least. For Oo’-< l T*d in his “Herbal” speaks of the small, wild bnglo«se which grows upon the ditch banks about “Pickadilla.”
