McKenzie deliverer la speech at Tauinaniniu last night {Replying to Opposition critics, he | said the Government had £3.000.00( ' in the bank available for reproductive public works. He defendeo the succession duties, under whirl estates under £25.000 were exempt if left to widow, child, or grandI child. Government, had recently I transferred £BOO.OOO from the surplus to the Public Works Depart ment. This would be available foi necessary purposes of settlement. He denied that the Liberal Adminii stratum had increased taxation; ' on the contrary, there was the ease of remission of duties on tea, kerosene. and other articles for general use. These remissions totalled a very large sum.
