FARMERS’ UNION.

HASTINGS BRANCH

A meeting of the newly-elected committee of the Hastings branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Lnion was held in the Carlton Club Hotel on Saturday’ evening. Air. T. Talbot in the chair. It was decided to ask Air. Alason Chambers to give an address at the next quarterly meeting on the subject of single-tax, the speaker to be allowed fifteen minutes for his address and fifteen minutes for reply : other speakers five minutes each.

The resignations of Messrs. H. McKeesick, F. J. Evans and Stewart Miller were received with regret.

Mr. W. A. McNaught, of Dunedin, wrote offering to address the members on wool-classing, and it was decided to write for further particulars with the object of accepting the offer.

It was decided that members joining after the first three months joining the unon after the first of the financial year be asked to pay' subscription money in proportion to the unexpired portion of the year only.

A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr. S. Talbot for the use of his room for holding meetings in during the past year. At the conclusion of routine business at the next committee meeting. Mr. A. Masters will give an address on hop culture.
