HOME RULE.
THE IRISH ENVOYS IN HASTINGS.
Mr. R. Hazelton, M.P., one of the Irish delegates, arrived in Hastings by the mail train last evening, and was met at the railway station by the members of the reception committee and an assemblage of about a hundred and fifty people. Three cheers were given for the delegate, as well as the Home Rule cause, by the crowd on the platform, and there was a further outburst of cheering as the visitor drove off in a landau to the Catholic Presbytery. This afternoon Mr. Hazelton was taken for a motor tour of the district. The party visited the Te Mata vineyards en route, and were, hospitably received by the manager, Mr. Craike.
Messrs. Redmond, M.P., and Donovan will arrive by the mail train this evening, and the three envoys will subsequently be entertained at a dinner in the Grand Hotel by the Hastings Reception Committee.
The delegates will be in attendance at the Catholic bchoolgrounds, in Heretaunga street, from 2.30 p.m, to-morrow to receive visitors.
NAPIER ARRANGEMEN/TS
There will be a committee meeting held in Abbott’s Hail, Napier, on Monday evening, to make further arrangements for the visit of the Irish Envoys to Napier. The hope is expressed that all Irishmen will assist the committee to make the reception worthy of the cause.
WANGANUI SYMPATHY. [per press association. J Wanganui, May 6. At a meeting of Home Rule sympathisers last evening £l3O was handed in by collectors. It is expected £250 will be raised here.
