THE DEATH OF RONALD

BLACK.

Wellington, April 28.

At an inquest concerning the death of Ronald Black, aged 17 years, who was found hanging by a strap in the bathroom at the parents’ house, it was stated that the deceased had been interested by a certain picture which showed a boy or boys hanging by means of snaps round their necks. Deceased was a very impressionable boy. The inquest was adjourned till to-morrow, to permit of the boys to whom the deceased had spoken of the pictures being called. Mr. Black, father of the deceased. said he wished to make a statement in regard to the boy’s disposition and the possible cause of his death.

The Coroner said he quite understood Mr. Black’s feelings. He could give evidence if he desired to do so when the inquest was resumed.

DEATH FROM MISADVENTURE

Wellington, April 29

At the resumed inquest on the body of the boy, Ronald Black, who was found hanging by the neck, evidence was given by the deceased’s friends that he had been to picture shows, and had seen pictures of a man hanging but who was not killed. The coroner said there was no motive to suggest for the suicide, and he agreed with the doctorthat it was a most extraordinary thing to do. The coroner returned a verdict that death was due to strangulation, the result of misadventure.
