(Received 26, 8.5 a.m.) Tokio, April The steamer Empire, from Sydney, struck a sandbank at Nogi. The passengers are safe. It is expected she can be refloated. (Received 26, 9.5 a.m.) The Empire has been refloated and is uninjured.

The steamer Asia, formerly the Doric, has been wrecked southward of Shanghai. Mails and passengers were saved.

The Union Company’s Monowai is due early to-morrow morning from northern ports, and leaves at 3 p.m. for. Wellington and south. The Union Company’s Tarawera arrived at 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon from Southern ports, and left at 8.30 p.m. for Gisborne and Auckland.
The Union Company’s Kowhai leaves Dunedin to-day, via Oamaru, Timaru and Lyttelton, arriving at Napier (Inner Harbour) on Monday. On completing the discharge of her Napier cargo, she leaves for Gisborne wharf.
Owing to the repairs to the Aor-j angi not yet being completed, the; Maitai will leave Wellington in! her place on May 3rd and Auck ? on May 6th for San Francisco. I The Aorangi will take up her run-! ning 28 days’ later. I Huddart, Parker and Co.’s Vic-! toria is due on Friday morning! from southern ports, and leaves at 1 8.30 p.m. for Sydney via Gisborne and Auckland.
The New Zealand Shipping Commanp’s Whakatane left Lyttelton at 5.40 p.m. yesterday, and is due here to-morrow morning The Tangaroa and Tu Atu arrived yesterday from Wairoa. The following are the movements of Messrs Richardson and Co.’s steamersßipple : Lelt Wellington last night for Napier, and leaves here to-morrow afternoon for Gisborne. Kahu: Left‘Wellington at 4.5 p.m. yesterday and is due here early to-morrow morning. Fanny: .;as expected to leave Gisborne at 10 p.m. last night for Napier, via the coast, and is due here this afternoon. Ruru: Left IVaikokopu at 5 o’clock yesterday morning, and was due here last night. She leaves tonight for Tologo and Tokomaru bays.
