PLOUGHING MATCH COMMITTEE

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.

The annual general meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Ploughing Match Committee was held in the Carlton Club Hotel, Hastings, on Saturday evening, Mr. Stewart Miller in the chair. About twenty members were present.

The chairman intimated that he would probably be absent from the Dominion when the coming match was held, and Mr. H. lan Simson was elected chairman for the ensuing year. Mr. Simson then took the chair.

Mr. G. Purvis was elected vicechairman. and Mr. F. C. Hartshorn was re-elected secretary. The chairman stated that there was a credit balance of £25 from last year. The membership fee was fixed at 10 - for the coming year. It was decided to affiliate under theh Unclassified Societies’ Act, and Messrs. Simson and Purvis were appointed to tarry out the affiliation.

hearty vote of thanks w’as passed to Mr. Stewart Miller for his services as chairman during the past year.

It was decided that it should be a recommendation to the affiliated clubs that “go-as-you-please” ploughing should be adopted in the championship matches; and to adhere to this method in the Hastings championship.

.Messrs. Simson, Miller, and Purvis were appointed delegates to the meeting of clubs at Waipukurau. A committee consisting of the chairman, Messrs. Miller, Hennessey. McPhee, Percival, Walden, Purvis, were appointed to draw- up a programme for the annual competitions and to arrange for grounds..

The question of fixing a date was deferred.

The sum of £2O was subscribed in the room towards the expenses of the match, Mr. Simson heading the list with a donation of £5/5/-.
