The Lusitiania’s captan, M. Dafaria, refused to leave his vesseL H.M.S. Forte’s captain finally went in a cutter and induced hiin not to sacrifice his life uselessly.
Captain Dafaria attributes Hie wreck to an exceptional inset of Hie current.
The mails have been saved. It is ascertained four persons were drowned.
The Union Assembly discussed lowering the Cape Point light, which was frequently obscured. The lighthouse at Slangkop also demanded attention. Mr. Merriman contended that the recent wrecks were due to careless navigation. Mr. Sauer, Minister of Railways and Harbours, promised an immediate enquiry.
