The Hawke's Bay Farmers' Cooperative Association. Limited, re port: —We held our fortnightly sale at Makotuku yesterday, when we offered a fair yarding of sheep, but no cattle. Competition was not extra keen, but we disposed of all but one pen of ewes after the sale, Me <juote as follows:— Lambs 6 3 arid 6 -. and 2'9 and 2 7 for culls; old ewes 5;-, old cull ewes (poor) 2 The N'.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd., report as fol-lows:-At Palmerston North, on Thursday, a fair entry of cattle was yarded, the greater portion of which changed hands. Only one pen of sheep came forward. W’e quote :- -Sheep : Cull 2 and 4-tooth ewes 93. Cattle: Weaners (mixed) is - to 22'-. weaner steers 29 6, weaner heifers (good) 35/- to 40 -, Store cows £2 18/6 to £3/12/-, forward cows £4'B - to £4/15/-, fat cows £5 to £6/2 -, cows with calves at foot £3'l3-. two-lear steers £3 18 6 to £4's -. fc The same company’ report on their Usual fortnightly sale at Makotuku on Wednesday last, as follows :- We offered a large yarding of sheep and a fair yarding of cattle to a smaller attendance of buyers and those interested than usual. Recent rains did not appear to assist the market in any way, and bidding for all lots was slow under the hammer. Vendors, however, were willing to face the position after the sale, and we are pleased to report almost a total c learance. We quote : —Sheep : Sound-mouth breeding ewes 6/-to i/8, 2-tooth ewes (small) 10/11, cull iwps 2'- to 3'3, fat and forward •wes to 9 We sold a nice line of vetther lambs at 8/-, and other; ambs from 5/3 to 7/4.
