The pulpit of St. Paul’s Church, Napier, wiTl be occupied by the Rev. James Patterson, from Wellington, to-morrow. Mr. William , C. Kensington, 1.5.0., under-Secretary for Lands, left by the express train this morning to inspect the Lindsay protective works. i On the 27th instant, Mr. John Essen, of Greenmeadows, leaves by the s.s. Ruapehu on a visit to England. Mr. and Mrs. G. Kemp, Roy’s Hill, Maraekakaho. left by the express train this morning for Taihape, to attend the funeral of the late chief Wimatu, Mr. Kemp’s grandfather. Canon Mayne left this morning for Woodville, where he will preach the sermon at the Harvest Festival i to-morrow. He will return on Mon--1 oi?y Mr. Gardiner, who has been appointed Sanitary Inspector for the Hawke’s Bay Hospital District will ! arrive in Napier with his wife and family to-night.
