RIFLE SHOOTING
HAWKE’S BAY RIFLE ASSO-
CIATIOX.
UAIIU-V - The Hawke’s Bay Rifle Association’s third annual shoot opened at Ray’s Hill Rifle Range on Saturday. A right front wind, which later changed to a left front, baffled the shootists, and no possibles were put on. The shooting, however, was. above the average. • The markers went on strike when firing was about to commence, and refused to mark unless their pax' was increased from 10- to 15 - per day. As events proved, they found to their surprise that in grasping at the shadow they allowed the sub-. stance to disappear, and the difficulty was overcome by nine of the shooters marking alternately. The strikers were asked to quit the range with all haste. The range officers on Saturday were Lieutenants Le Quesne and, Macfarlane. The prize winners in the only' match completed were as follows: Dannevirke Match, 500yds, 600 yds, 7 shots at each. —Feast, 66 (£3); H.
