LOGAN PARK.
The annual meeting of the Rugby i Union on Friday night was responI sible for bringing once again under ' the notice of the public, a very ; necessary w 7 ork in Napier. We rei fer to the construction of a bridge ; over the Tutaekuri river to give I access to Logan Park. Naturally I the footballers are very much interested in this work, as the preI sent round-about way of reaching the Park takes up much of the players’ time, and also greatly 7 interferes with the possibility of getting anything like a “gate.” The bridge, however, would not only be of service to the footballers; but also to many residents of both Borough and County 7 and provide a very much shorter route to Taradale and Greenmeadow 7 s. h e are well aware that the construction of such a bridge w r ould entail considerable expense, and perhaps the authorities would not be justified in making so large an outlay at present, but the matter might well be gone into with the object of seeing w 7 hat could be done. Some time ago, at a meeting of the Napier Borough Council, passing reference to a footbridge at this spot was made, but nothing has been said about the matter since. If the expense of a proper traffic bridge is too great, why not consider the construction of a light footbridge, which wrould permit of use by cyclists and foot passengers ? If such a bridge could be erected at moderate cost it would undoubtedly prove a great boon to many people both in and out of the Borough.
