They found the body terribly mangled, with one leg severed, and took the body back to Otaki. Death must have been instantaneous. An inquest will be

opened to-morrow morning to take Mrs. Oates’ evidence and permit the body to be taken for burial to Christchurch, where her home is. SETTLER DROWNED. . Auckland, April 10. !
