A RECORD RUN.
GISBORNE TO WAIKAREMOANA. Mr. J. '.I. Ormond returned to Gisborne to-day from WaiKaremoana, after a record run. Leaving Gisborne at 6.20 yesterday morning m an Overland motor cai, in company with Mr. Rowland, the car reached Tiniroto at. 8.30 a.m. The travellers had breakfast there. Leaving half an hour later, they reached Waikaremoana in time to have luncheon at Lake House at 1 p.m. They had a sail on the lake, and left at 3 p.m. for Wairoa, which they reached at 20 minutes to 6, remaining there for the night. They left for Gisborne at a quarter past 7 this morning, and arrived in town at 1 p.m. Mr. Ormond states that he is convinced that there is nothing to prevent a good car doing the journey from Gisborne to 'Waikaremoana and back in a day. They could have done the journey easih’ with their Overland car. They had a good deal of delay owing to meeting stock on the road, including a mob of 300 cattle. The natives summed up the progress of the car in a neat way. They telephoned a message that a motor car was flying up the hill like a
bird, and for them to be prepared for it at Lake House.—Poverty Bay Herald.
