THE NAPIER WOOLLEN CO. LIMITED. THE WOOLLEN INDUSTRY. |AEW people realise how extensive this is in all civilised countries. It is one of our oldest trades, and in some parts of Britain it is very highly specialised. When, however, we remember that our Dominion’s total population does not yet exceed 1.000,000, the amount of our Woollen Importation is simply enormous. The latest Board of Trade returns are as follows:— Woollen and Worsted Piece Goods .. .. £500,000 Woollen and Worsted Apparel £600,000 Total Annual Importations .. .. £1,100,000 No other single class of our Importations is equal to the Woollen one. Now, if even one-half less goods were imported, a great fillip would be given to our local Woollen Mills, and a great amount of work would be at once provided. In the United States a great reduction in Imports has been . brought about by the imposition of high duties on Woollen Goods—even as much as 70 per cent. duty. We do not, however, think that such a high protective tariff is necessary or advisable in our Dominion at the present time. All that is necessary is that our people be patriotic enough to ask for our own productions. The Napier Woollen Goods will stand comparison with the best that are made anywhere. The popular Tailor of Napier (Mr. T. Parker) says that Napier Woollens have “ nae peer,” and he will be at once conceded as an authority. Insist on NAPIER WOOLLENS every time.
