THE BLESSED PAIR.
Tlier© was a young woman without any mother ()i farther or sister or aunty or brother met a voung man in her own walk and station Who had. I am told, not a single relation. The motherless maid and this fatherless fellow Went courting each other, and life seemed ail mellow And sweet, for they had to pleas© only each other. And not any aunty or father or mother "1 love vou,” ho said, and he never diluted His love with tlie Lope that his father was suited; “I love you.” she said, and she added no other Remark about hoping he'd please her dear mother. And love seemed to smiie on the whole of wooingi For they passed no stand of relations rev iewing. Tier wanted each other and not some odd dozens Of uncles and aunties and parents and cousins. And these kindless youngsters, pray note ve: the moral, W re married without having had a real ouarrcl. Thev were not distinguishes! or wealthy or clever. But oh. they were happy for ever and ever! -J. W. Foie. IN HIGH SOCIETY. Two ladies stood from the stream of prnmenaders a ti tle apart, in Hyde Park recently. They were, says “Vanity Fair." evidently but slight acquaintance', and there was "no love lest" between them. “Well.” said the first grand dame, "by-hye! I mu.M- reallv be getting on. I have to make a call on the mater before lunch.” The second nut up her lorgnette, and trawled • “Really ah—you don't mean to say you have a mother still living*” The first lady laughed —a high, thin laugh. wn:h something decidedly acid in it ••Oh. yes.” six- retorted upon the one who had tried to "take her down.” "My mater is yet in the land of the lit ing, and she doesn't look.* day older than you do, I assure you.”
A good home is the best explanation and example of Heaven.
