H.B. SHEEP DOG TRIAL CLUB.

The Central Hawke’s Bay Sheep Dog Trial Club continued their meeting at 7.30 a.m., at .Mr. Dolbel’s paddock, Taradale, under ideal weather conditions. It is expected that the meeting will not be finished before Saturday noon at the earliest. There was a good representative gathering, including ladies, who congratulated Mr. P. Dolbel on his recovery from his recent illness. He was about today for the first time for some days. Competitors and sportsmen from all parts of the Dominion were there. A word of praise is due to those putting the sheep out, and especially to Mr. W. J. White, of Pakowhai, who took charge of the sheep after the trial. The meeting was continued at 5.30 a.m. to-day, in glorious weather, a slight breeze blowing, just enough to make things pleasant. The results are as follows:— CLASS 11.

W. Whyte’s Boy (best head 7, bringing back 5, under com-

mand 6, through hurdles 5, style at yard 5; total 28) 1 P. McDonald’s Meg (best head 5, bringing back 3, under command 6, through hurdles 8, style at yard 5; total 27) 2 J. Nicholson’s Sharp (best head 6, bringing back 4, under command 6, through hurdles 7, style at yard 3; total 26) 3 C. Thom’s Bon (best head 5, bringing back 4, under command 6, through hurdles 6, style at yard 4 ; total 25) 4 W. McFarlane’s Roy (best head 5, bringing back 4, under command 6, through hurdles 6, . style at yard 3; total 24) 5 J. W. Clarke’s Gale (best head 5, bringing back 4, under command 5, through hurdles 6, style at yard 3; total 23) 6 judge’s Remarks.

The exhibitions were not up to the mark, principally, he thought, because the sheep were a bit wild, and the dogs not being used to the class of > sheep (merinos), none of the cpmpetitors were able to yard the sheep, which was disappointing, both to the judge, competitors, spectators, and all concerned. The class was finished about noon, and Class 111. started at 1 The result will npt be to hand before we go to. press.
