The Industrial Court ruled that a sectional trades holiday was not a public holiday. The ruling is the outcome of the claiin that men kept working during the building trades celebration were entitled to overtime pay. VICTORIAN IRONWORKERS. Melbourne, Mar. 30. Recently the Iron Workers’ Society demanded ah all round increase of 1/- per day on wages. A conference resulted in an amicable arrangement, city employees receiving an advance of 6d and country employees, who have been receiving less than ruling rates, an advance of 2/- to 2/6 daily.
