I OCXS FOR NAPIER.

i FROM D BATTERY EQUIPMENT

The newly-formed Field Artillery Corps at Napier is to be provided with two of the D Battery’s 15pounder field guns. In a very short time all the field batteries of the Dominion will be provided with the latest pattern 18-pounders. and on the arrival of the first shipment of these the D Battery’s equipment will be again brought up to its full strength. In the meantime, the Wellington gunners will have to be vontent with only half their proper number of field pieces.

Headquart- | ers: Drill Hall, Napier. | Area No. 25. —Consisting of the | counties of Cook and those portions of the counties of Waiapu, Opotiki, Waikonu, Whakatane and Wairoa (N.E. of a line from the mouth of the Waikare river to the point where the N. boundary of the districts strikes the Te Hoe river), which are included in the Wellington district.—Area Sergeant-Major Bishop. Headquarters: Drill Hall Gisborne.

Area No. 26.—Consisting of the counties of Wairoa (S.W. of a line from the mouth of the Waikare river to the point where the N. boundary of the distric t strikes the Te Hoe river). Hawke’s Bay and East Taupo (E. of the Kaimanawa range) w’hich are included in the Wellington district.- Area Ser-geant-Major Steel. Headquarters: Drill Hall, Napier. Area No. 27. —Consisting of the counties of Waipawa. Waipukurau. Patangata, Dannevirke, Weber, Woodville. Pahiatua and Akitio.— Area Sergeant-Major Burr. Headquarters; Drill Hall, Masterton.
