NATIVE LANDS SETTLEMENT. Dannevirke, Mar. 23. The Native Minister yesterday met Maori owners at Mangatoro block to confer with them with a view to Government purchasing the land for close settlement. In the evening the Minister received two deputations, one from the Chamber of Commerce, asking Government, to resume Tiratu, Tahoraiti, and Mangatoro blocks for settlement, and another from the A. and P. Association asking for extension of tenure of the Domain. In both cases the Minister indicated that Government would take the necessary steps, it being understood that the rights of the Natives have to be considered, and their consent to sale obtained in the case ihp
