RABBIT BOARD.

The Hawke’s Bay Rabbit Board 1 met yesterday. Present: Messrs. T. Crosse (chairman), A. C. Beni nett, T. Clark, and W. Shrimpton. ■ Leave of absence was granted to I Mr. W. G. Stead. The pay-sheet for January and February, amounting to £415/11/3, was confirmed. The Native Lands Department wrote stating that the board was misinformed as to the position of the Tutira block, which was leased in 13,420 acres to Mr. Guthrie Smith, 5570 acres to Miss Guthrie . Smith, the residue of the block, 1300 acres, being vested in the Ikaroa District Maori Land Board. The Department understood that the Omahaki and Kohurau blocks were in the occupation of A. and J. Boyd.—A copy of the letter to be sent to the trustees of A. and J. Boyd. In reply to a letter from the board regarding the condition of the country over which he is inspector, Inspector Tanner wrote that the country was very free from rabbits, and new gangs of rabbiters were working on lands hitherto unworked. —It was resolved to send Inspector Tanner a copy of the clauses of ’Chief Inspector Amyes’ report referring to the condition of the country. Payments for the month amounting to £305/0/3 were authorised. The board’s credit balance was reported to be £2156. On the motion of the chairman, it was resolved to hold finance committee meetings on every alternate month, the first to be held next month.
