Mr. Fred. Symonds left Hastings this morning for England.
Mr. Arthur Joseph left Hastings by Tuesday’s express en route for Taupo and Auckland on business in connection with Native land.
Mr. Frank Smith, son of Mr. J. A. Smith, Inspector of Schools for Hawke’s Bay, arrived in Napier last night on a fortnight’s holiday. The Hon. R. McKenzie (Minister of Public Works), leaves Auckland to-day for Hunua, and will be at Huntly to-morrow. He has arranged to reach Paeroa on Thursday, and will afterwards travel down the East Coast, via Rotorua. Mr. Gohns, late Inspector of Factories in Hawke’s r»ay, will arrive at Napier by the mail train tomorrow night, and on Friday will conduct a case against Warren Bros, for a breach of the Industrial award.
Mr. T. Lindsay Buick, part proprietor of the Dannevirke Advo-j cate, has been elected as Associate; of the Empire Press Union, thei most important journalistic organ!-' sation in Great Britain. Mr. Buick j leaves for London on the 15th inst.i on a well-deserved holiday. j
Mr. Victor Peddie, who is one of the prominent members of Messrs. Barton Bros.’ Circus, was at one time a resident of Hastings, having been formerly employed on the “Hastings Standard” when it first started publication. He shortly after left with Bostock’s Circus, and has since travelled in India, China, Japan( Continent of Europe, and Australia. When he was performing in the trapeze and ladder acts last evening, few of the audience were aware that he was an old Hastings boy.
