ANNUAL COMPETITIONS.
Hokitika, March 6.
Splendid weather prevailed today when the Fire Brigades’ competitions were continued. About ‘ ‘ 2500 were present.
The reel and ladder event, which commenced on Saturday, resulted as follows: —Timaru (59 3-ssec) 1, Invercargill (61 4-ssec) 2, Onehunga i (62 2-ssec) 3, Wanganui (63 4-ssec. ; including 4sec penalty) 4, Grey- ’ mouth (65 J-ssec, including 2sec ’ penalty) 5, Dunedin City (66 2-ssec) ; 6. Carterton, Roslyn, Dunedin South. Hillside Railway, Newmar- ! ket, Naseby. West port. Mosgiel, Devonport and Marton followed in i the order mentioned. Hastings, S Waimate, Dannevirke, Napier, Gis- • borne, Mount Eden, Patea, Oamaru. Spit, and Timaru Railway were ■‘blown out.” Reefton, Stratford, Caversham. Hokitika, Alexandra South and Masterton were disqualified. Manual Engine Event, 5 men.— Carterton (43 4-ssec) 1, Napier (50 2-ssec) 2, Hastings (51 2-ssec) 3, Spit 53 l-ssec) 4. Kumara (58 2-ssec) 5, Wanganui (59sec) 6. Gisborne, Greymouth. Dannevirke, Dunedin City and Waverley were next in order mentioned. Masterton. Eastown Railway, Timaru and Greytown were disqualified. ; Rescue Event, two men. —Dunedin City (23sec) 1, Napier 2, Greymo&th (23 4-ssec) 3, Onehunga (24 1- 4. Wanganui (25 l-ssec) 5, Timaru Railway 6. Dunedin City and Napier tied in the first run, and in the run off the former team was successful. Mount Eden, Hastings, Geraldine, Caversham, Hokitika, Masterton, Kumara, Auckland City, Dunedin South, Mosgiel, Waimate. Invercargill Railway, Hillside Railway, Devonport, Hunterville, Kaiapoi, Stratford, Reefton and St. Kilda followed in the above order, with the exception that Caversham and Geraldine tied (26 2- also Waimate and Mosgiel (28 2-ssec). Eastown Railway, Rotorua, Patea, Spit. Invercargill, Oamaru and Maori Hill were “blown out,” and Timaru, Gisborne; and New Brighton <vere disquali-j fied. |
Ladder Race, one man. —Dunedin City 1, Masterton 2, Waimate 3, Onehunga 4, Invercargill 5, Napier 6. Winner’s time, 7 2-ssec.
So far the following teams have competed in the disabled hose event: —Dannevirke 80 2-ssec. Hillside Railway 84sec, Hokitika 84 3-ssec, Grey mouth 64 4-ssec, Carterton 84 4-ssec, Naseby 93 4-ssec. This and the remaining events will be continued on Wednesday. In the dry coupling event, which eventuated on Saturday. Dunedin City and Hokitika tied for second place, and in the run off to-day the visiting team were successful.
