A baffling poisoning mystery, involving the tragic death of a bridal couple on the eve of their marriage, is puzzling the people of Maryland (says the New York correspondent of a London paper). Mr Charles Edward Twigg, a wealthy young merchant of Cumberland, visited his bride (Mice Grace Eloeer) a few hours before the time fixed for their wedding, for the purpose of presenting her with a new motor car..

Miss Eloser answered it, gaily telling her friend at the other end of tlie v. re about the final arrangements for the wedding. Half an hour later her mother entered the drawing-room rrd saw the couple sitting hand-in-Jj.tnl on the sofa, gazing, apparently, into each other’s eyes. The smile with which the mother approached the couple changed w an expression of horror as she noticed the rigid attitude. Both the bride and bridegroom were dead. An examination showed that the lips of the .< ojs were burned. Apparently Mr j'w gg had taken poison, and then Kissel bis bride, killing her in doing s* - After careful investigation Gie ''droner has given his opinion m ihese words:—“lt is a case of double mirder, not double suicide.” In the mouth of the bridegroom was a [ :©••© of chewing gum, which, it ucL< ved, contained cyanide.
