(Received 7. 8.20 a.m.) London, Mar. 6.
Sir J. W. Thomson, Professor of Physics in the Royal Institution, states that the sun transmits power •»n a clear day equivalent to seven thousand horse-power to the acre, which, if harnessed, would provide all the power required for the. world's work, obtained at the cost of lowering the temperature by a degree or two. The suggestion that radio activity causes the sun’s energy Prof. Thomson regards as U'- It s-. because the life bf radium G insignificantly short and only trnablv by Helmholtz's hypothesis, which trains the energy of the sun to a shrinking within itself to the extent of about 200 ft a year.
