FIRES.
FATAL FIRE. (Received 24, 10.30 a.m.) , St. Petersburg, Feb. 23. A fire which broke out in. a workmen’s tenement house in Moscow, demolished the house, five of the occupants being' incinerated.' Twenty-five others were injured by jumping from the windows. HOUSE AT PALMERSTON. Palmerston N., Feb. 24. A five-roomed house in the main street, occupied by Mrs. McCarthy and owned by Mr.. Hirsch, was totally destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon. The house was insured in the New Zealand office for £3OO, but the contents were uninsured.
