DOMINION’S AVOWED LOYALTY TO BRITAIN. Ottawa, Feb. 23. ' The Canadian Parliament has formally declared its loyalty to Great Britain. The French-Canadian group moved that the House, wishful to dispel the unrest caused by the annexation talk following the reciprocity agreement, emphatically asserts its determination to preserve intact the bonds uniting Canada to the Empire. Sir Wilfred Laurier was surprised, but accepted the amendment, which was adopted unanimously. Mr. R. L. Borden, Opposition Leader, expressed his belief that the American Congress would not accept, the reciprocity .proposals on economic grounds but on political, i Mr. Monk, leader of the National-1 ists, charged Hon. Lemieux and i Mr. Brodeur -with disloyalty to the King. ' Sir. F. W. Borden, on behalf of | both these Ministers, warmly denied this. The Manitoba and Ontario Boards of Trade oppose reciprocity with the United States.
