THE ILL-FATED WARATAH

THE FINDING OF THE COURT. [PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT. 1 (Received 23, 8 a.m.) London, Feb. 22. The Marine Court which held inquiry into the cause of the loss of the ill-fated steamer Waratah has delivered its judgment. The court holds that the vessel was properly equipped and manned, the cargo was properly stow, ed, she had sufficient stability, and was seaworthy. She was lost in a storm and probably capsised, but the chain of circumstances remains undetermined. The court says it is unable to understand the maintenance of silence concerning the vessel’s stability and behaviour at sea on her maiden voyage—a silence which almost compels an inference unfavourable to the owners.
