METHODIST CONFERENCE.
[per press association.] Christchurch, Feb. 23. The Methodist Conference opens formally at Christchurch this evening, when the retiring president, Rev. C. H. Laws, delivers an address. Among the questions to be debated by the Conference are confirmation resolutions regarding the separation of the New. Zealand church; a proposal to cut out one of the three readings of stations; and the establishment of a Methodist college or theological hall. A citizens’ meeting will- be held to-morrow night in connection with the Conference. The Governor has promised to preside and BishOo Julius and the Hon. G. Fowlds will be among those delivering addresses.
